The Immortal Island

The island where people live up to 100+ years

Defined by the Oxford dictionary— “a person who is 100 years old or more”, A centenarian is incredibly rare to find in the modern world. But what if i told you that there’s an island where almost everyone native to that island lives up to 100+ years?

This isn’t some kind of place that you would find in Avatar— it’s a real place called Okinawa in Japan. Okinawa is one of the 5 “Blue Zones” in the world 🌍, holding the title for the highest number of centenarians in the world. But how is this possible?🤔

According to experts, The Okinawa people follow an eating practice where they stop eating when they are 80% full to avoid excess calories and overeating. Their diet consists of only plants, vegetables, tofu, and sweet potatoes.

The Okinawans have a strong feeling of inter-connectedness. They also maintain deep social bonds, ensuring no one feels isolated, and their daily life naturally includes physical activities like gardening and walking. 🤝

But that’s not all, one of the most vital aspects of this miracle is their sense of “Ikigai” (or “raison d'être“ in French). It can be literally translated as “reason for living”.

A strong Ikigai=A long fulfilling life. This unknown connection is proven to increase life expectancy by 14 years. This contributes to lower stress levels, better mental health, and healthier lifestyles 🌱.

This example serves as a blueprint for longevity that the world can learn from— particularly billionaires who try to freeze❄️up their brain in hopes of living longer 💀
